Your NDIS planning meeting is where your goals and support needs are discussed with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), and it directly shapes the funding you receive. Going in prepared helps ensure your plan actually reflects your life.
Start by writing down your goals — both short-term (like learning to catch public transport independently) and long-term (like moving into your own home). Be specific rather than general; specific goals are easier to fund.
Gather supporting evidence. Letters or reports from your doctor, occupational therapist, psychologist, or other allied health professionals help demonstrate why certain supports are reasonable and necessary.
Think through a typical week and note where you need support — mornings, evenings, weekends, social activities — and who currently provides that support, whether that's family, friends, or paid staff.
Bring a support person if you'd like one, whether that's a family member, advocate, or support coordinator. They can help you remember points and ask questions you might not think of on the day.
Ready to talk through your options?
Whether you're a participant, family member, or support coordinator, we can help you understand the next step.
