Early Childhood Early Intervention: NDIS Support for Young Children
20 November 2024 · By GTI Team
The NDIS Early Childhood Approach supports children under 9 with developmental delay or disability, focusing on early intervention at a stage when it can have the greatest impact.
Families typically connect with an Early Childhood Partner organisation first, who help work out what supports might help, rather than going straight through the standard planning pathway.
Supports can include speech therapy, occupational therapy, and other allied health services aimed at building skills during key developmental years.
Family involvement is central to this approach — many strategies are designed to be used by parents and carers day-to-day, not just during scheduled therapy sessions.
Getting started early doesn't require a formal diagnosis in many cases — a developmental delay noticed by a parent, GP, or educator can be enough to begin the conversation.
