Building Daily Living Skills Through Your NDIS Plan
18 September 2024 · By GTI Team
Daily living skills support under the NDIS covers a wide range of everyday tasks: cooking, budgeting, using public transport, personal care, and household management.
The goal of this kind of support is usually twofold — providing help where it's needed now, while gradually building the participant's confidence and ability to do more independently over time.
Support workers trained in daily living skills often use a coaching approach rather than simply doing tasks for the participant, working alongside them so skills transfer over time.
Progress looks different for everyone. For some participants, the goal might be full independence in a task; for others, it's about consistent, reliable support that maintains quality of life and dignity.
If daily living goals are part of your plan, it's worth discussing with your provider how progress will be tracked, so you can see the impact over successive plan periods.
